We are a non-profit organization working since 1999 to advance environmental and economic sustainability and social well being throughout our County through our grassroots efforts and those of our town and city chapters and affiliates. We Collectively call ourselves the Sustainables. Read More -
What We Do
The Sustainables show up night after night, month after month, at town council and board of supervisors meetings to advocate for sustainability. Our opinions are respected by government agencies and we often provide citizen input when new ordinances that deal with sustainability are being developed or approved. Sustainability Agenda
Sustainable Marin sees a myriad of ways we need to alter our policies, programs, practices, education, livelihoods and culture. Many of them can be focused in a "sustainability agenda" to make the "green cities" movement operational. We see this as an urgent undertaking but a long-term process if sustainability goals are to be realized. At the moment, our "sustainability agenda" priorities look like this:
